FlatFlat was born from the experience of frequent moves and the observation of excessive furniture waste on the sidewalks of New York. The design process prioritized an ease of disassembly, shipment, and reassembly, utilizing flat-rate boxes from FedEx which can be acquired for free in the US and shipped at a reduced cost. The materiality ensures the maximum longevity and eventual recyclability of the product.

All pieces are laser-cut in the United States from aluminum sheet, and fabricated by hand in Branford, Connecticut with aluminum hinges and rivets. Aluminum, an infinitely recyclable metal, is corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and unsusceptible to bending.
